Transformed

This work was created while listening to a meditation with coach Frankie Simmons during her regular gathering, “The Church of Bread and Roses”. My partner’s brand colors at Dekowaii inspired the colors of this painting and as I worked on it, I thought about the process we have both gone through in preparing to share our creative endeavors with the world.

It isn’t easy to build a business on your creative pursuits, but we both have grown through the ups and downs of this journey. When things become difficult, it’s easy to feel like you’re spinning your wheels, but the meditation from Frankie reminded me that these feelings were all a normal part of a growth journey.

The little poem reads:

I am being transformed.
Nothing stays stuck.
I wonder where I’ll grow to next?

This piece is currently on loan to the Chesapeake Arts Council and you can see it on display from June 13th – July 31st for the Pride Month Exhibition. I am honored to have been chosen to display my work for this show and thrilled that this piece was chosen.
